Editorial Policy

Car Finance Tools is committed to providing accurate, transparent, and educational calculators and content. This page describes how we make and maintain our material.

Sources

We use established personal-finance and consumer-protection educational resources for guidance. Tax, fee, residual, and rate examples are illustrative — actual values vary by lender, dealer, leasing company, state, locality, vehicle, and timing.

Calculation accuracy

All financial math lives in a pure, framework-independent engine and is covered by unit tests and fixtures. Each calculator displays the assumption-set version used.

Boundaries

We do not provide loan offers, lease offers, lender quotes, dealer quotes, DMV/tax quotes, official lease worksheets, retail installment sales contracts, legal advice, tax advice, financial advice, or insurance advice. All output is an estimate for educational purposes.

Updates

When formulas, assumptions, or default values change, we update the assumption-set version and review fixture deltas before release.

Report a calculator error

Email hello@carfinancetools.com with the calculator name and inputs if a result looks wrong. Correction reports are reviewed ahead of routine work.
